SIMRAN SEJPAL

Hey there! I’m Simran Sejpal, a high school student currently in 12th grade studying at the International School of Breda (ISB). When I first joined Khilti Pari in August 2019, I started out as a head volunteer representing my school. I had my own little team of volunteers in ISB with whom I organised fundraisers with and tried to raise awareness within our school community for this amazing cause. In the beginning of my KP journey, I had a great feeling of excitement and anticipation as this was my chance to give back to our society and do some good in the world. I can say with certainty that this feeling of excitement and enthusiasm is still very much alive and is growing by the day as I get to work with an amazing team.

My role in Khilti Pari is operation research and working alongside Brinda in expanding our team of volunteers. These roles have given me the opportunity to work with diverse communities and step outside of my comfort zone. It’s really helped me gain perspective and live everyday with gratitude and appreciation.

The one thing that fuelled my determination was knowing that we’re actually making a difference. These girls still have a smile on their face with so little. They are passionate and excited for the future, even though their future may be uncertain. They are the reason why Khilti Pari has a special place in my heart.

I hope you’ve come on this website hoping to change a life, because I know I have!

What our sponsors say

'India is a country of beautiful history and culture that has produced some incredible inventions and individuals. But the country faces many issues with a large population living in poverty and educationally disadvantaged. It is especially challenging for the millions of young girls who don't get basic education, don't understand their own rights and hence have little chance to escape the vicious cycle of poverty. The Khilti Pari project attempts to attack this problem at its roots - directly working with the families of such young girls to try and ensure they stay within the educational system - allowing them to have a chance at a better future for themselves and their families. What's especially heartwarming for me is to see youths from my own community here in Antwerp raising funds and taking out time to take on this challenge head on. They are planning to personally travel to these areas at their own cost and work personally with such families. In some ways, they can better help and guide these girls by being closer in age and having a better outlook of options available to young people today. I fully endorse and support these young people and wish them great success in this endeavor.'  - Ravi Bhansali, Rosy Blue Group
